    As a Mechanical Engineer - Gas Turbine Auxiliary Systems, you will be responsible for leading all elements of procurement engineering related to Gas Turbine Auxiliary Systems under the Mechanical scope of duty. Heavy duty and aero derivative gas turbines, including the latest generation LT series GT, are included, as well as coordination with adjacent design teams. Quality, on-time delivery, cost, and engineering productivity will be the primary areas of accountability.

Mechanical Engineering Jobs

You will be responsible for the following as a Mechanical Engineer:

  • Going over customer specifications in detail, understanding critical project requirements, and determining all necessary requirements for the design of various Mechanical Auxiliaries, including Acoustic enclosures, Lube oil consoles, Ait Filter Houses, Ventilation & Support structures, Exhaust systems, Piping & valves, according to BH best practices.
  • Structural analysis of baseplates and support structures utilizing FEA tools [BDOT - BH Tool / Ansys] and STAAD PRO software.
  • Creating fundamental engineering drawings and 3D models in collaboration with external engineering providers.
  • Calculating foundation loads for structures and baseplates is my responsibility. PUMA can also be used to create piping line specifications (BH Tool)
  • Calculating Ventilation Flow Pressure Drop for Ventilation Fan Sizing and Ventilation System Layout Optimization
  • Pumps, motors, filters, accumulators, rundown tanks, and pressure control valves are among the components of the lube oil system that must be designed and sized.
  • Using BDOT (BH Tool), perform a lifting analysis and produce design requirements for the procurement of lifting devices to lift the entire Gas Turbine / Centrifugal Compressor package.
  • Working with external OEM vendors to design various external BOP skids such as Oil mist eliminators, Fuel gas valve skids & scrubbers, Liquid fuel, Atomizing & Purge air skids, Seal gas treatment skids, Oil clarifiers, and so on. The responsibilities will include first-piece qualifying (FPQ) and, if necessary, investigating the local supplier network.
  • Ownership of the plant 3D model for the entire project, verification of interface across various products that make up the project, and coordination of 3D model review meetings with customers.
  • Where necessary, performing and analyzing stress analyses of pipework and supports.
  • During the technical alignment phase, responding to material supplier questions and clarifications, examining the price matrix, and collaborating with the sourcing team to guarantee prompt purchase order placement. 
  • Working with material suppliers after the purchase order is placed to ensure that the items are delivered on time.
  • Participating in numerous design reviews and taking appropriate steps to ensure that the project moves forward smoothly.
  • Positively collaborating with all stakeholders, including customers and adjacent Auxiliary engineering disciplines, to ensure timely inputs and information transmission.
  • Leading the standardization of current designs and proposing and implementing creative ideas to enable the project achieve positive cost productivity.
  • To achieve positive productivity, embrace digital culture and encourage the development of engineering tools.

Keep your passion alive. To be effective in this position, you must be able to:

  • Have a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical or structural engineering from an approved institution or college, as well as 3-9 years of experience designing rotating machinery.
  • We prefer experienced candidates for this position, however we are willing to talk to less experienced but motivated people.
  • Have a strong desire to learn the domain with maximum focus and dedication.
  • Background information on turbomachinery auxiliaries (preferred)
  • Awareness of the main API/ASME test/process and TR&S criteria, as well as knowledge with the quality control system
  • Have the opportunity to connect with experts from various domains around the world to arrive at solutions in a short amount of time.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D modeling/detailing software such as UG NX, AutoCAD, and analysis software such as Flow Master, Ansys, and others (preferred)
  • Document management, change management, bill of materials, and classifications are all covered by product lifecycle management software (Siemens Teamcenter, for example). (preferred)
