AECOM is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the growing AECOM team in support of construction project supervision in the UAE. The candidate must be able to demonstrate:



On-site reports to the Project Lead/Senior Discipline Engineer. Oversees, manages, and monitors the implementation of construction documents on site. On-site management of teams of discipline Inspectors is your responsibility. Technically assists the Project Lead/ Senior Discipline Engineer/ Manager and communicates with the design office, contractor, and client counterparts to ensure that construction is completed in accordance with plans and specifications.

Job Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for a wide range of complex technical and administrative tasks that necessitate extensive experience and specialisation in Contract Compliance, Quality Control (QC), and Quality Assurance (QA) inspection of mechanical scope related to the project.

Analyzes applicable codes, standards, and project contract documents, as well as monitors construction activities to ensure contract document compliance.

Contract documents are interpreted or clarified for Contractors.

Maintains and creates a wide range of records, such as daily/weekly progress reports, material accounting records, change orders, and record drawings.

Assist the Project Engineer/Site Engineer as needed.

Supervising, directing, and coordinating the inspection team.

Weekly meetings should be held with the inspectors and the Project Engineer.

Assuring that responses are complete and adhere to the contract documents. Work with the Project Engineer to resolve any issues that are discovered.

Inspections for contract document and contractor-submitted plan conformity.

Assist the Senior Discipline engineer in identifying, responding to, or evaluating technical issues in order to keep the schedule on track.

Through the issuance of NCRs, any violations to construction/engineering related issues on site are highlighted.

Attends progress review and coordination meetings to assist the Project Lead/Senior Engineer in resolving any site issues, such as discrepancies in the project's drawings.

Participates in snagging and project handover coordination and monitoring.

Provide expert knowledge and advice to the Resident Engineer/Team Lead to ensure projects run smoothly.

If necessary, communicates with the Design Engineer about changes.

Provides daily site reports to the Project Lead, highlighting issues that arise on site.

Minimum Standards

Minimum of 12 years of demonstrable experience in the consulting industry in the design, supervision, and project administration of mechanical works related to large-scale projects in the Middle East.

Experience on-site with basic design requirements, estimation, installation, and all site activities associated with all Mechanical works for large-scale building projects.

Familiar with all Mechanical Engineering methodologies, as well as the related equipment, materials, consumables, tools, and manpower allocations for building projects.

Well-versed in interpreting and carrying out mechanical drawings.

Understand the requirements of the relevant authorities

Experience with high-rise residential and commercial buildings is required, as well as a strong background in project start-up, execution, and handover.

Qualifications Preferred

Education Mechanical bachelor's degree or equivalent In addition, an advanced postgraduate degree and membership in a recognised institution (i.e. PE/Peng, CEng, etc.) are preferred. LEED GA or AP certifications would be advantageous in the MEP discipline.
